Collection Archive of Modern Conflict (AMC)

Cette petite installation rassemble un bouquet de pochettes de semis photographiques. Chacune des enveloppes est illustrée d’une image de végétal issue de la collection Archive of Modern Conflict, depuis les premiers cyanotypes de la botaniste britannique Anna Atkins jusqu’aux clichés couleur de repérage du peintre anglais Graham Sutherland en passant par des images du photographe tchèque Josef Sudek. L’ensemble de ces enveloppes racontent une petite histoire photographique de l’attachement viscéral à la nature et en particulier aux plantes, aux arbres, aux fleurs et aux herbes sauvages. Des œuvres d’artistes reconnus côtoient des images d’anonymes et d’inconnus. Des photos scientifiques jouxtent des images d’illustrations et des clichés amateurs, documentaires et artistiques. La diversité des photographies est à l’image de celle du végétal…

The AMC seeds exhibition brings together a new range of photographic seed packets to take home and sow. Each packet is illustrated with a vegetal image from the Archives of Modern Conflict collection — from the early cyanotypes of British botanist Anna Atkins to the colour tracking shots of English painter Graham Sutherland and images by Czech photographer Josef Sudek. Together, these envelopes tell a small photographic story of the visceral attachment to nature and in particular to plants, trees, flowers and wild grasses.
Works by well-known artists are shown alongside images of anonymous and unknown people. Scientific photographs stand next to images of illustrations; and amateur, documentary and artistic photographs. The diversity of the photographs is in the image of the plant...
